      Hi John,

You should be able to find the other parts to this on my blog. I actually wrote these nearly six years ago. Still to this day these articles draw the most visitors to my blog.

If you can’t find the other parts let me know.

      Blessings in Christ,

      Joe

Hi Joe this is not a comment for publication but an attempt to get in touch, as I can’t seem to find your email. Daryl Bay up in Nelson and Andrew and Sophia Sinclair, my friends at SMBC in Sydney each encouraged me to make contact with you. I hope you don’t mind. . I’m currently in NZ until Tuesday evening. I’m third year MDIV student with Andrew and exploring the needs and opportunities for ministry in NZ. Am meeting with Rusty Milton tomorrow in ChCh to talk that over too. Not sure if you have a spare half hour for a coffee or brief chat too? If not maybe later on Skype or some such.
I think we have some common interests (aside from the obvious! ) in that I’ve worked in tertiary education and written a bit in ethics kinda of things too.
Before college (and still now a wee bit) I was a historian of US religious and intellectual history, publishing in those arenas. And also have been a long time columnist for Case magazine in Sydney -case.edu.au
Anyway, in short the whole matrix of pastoral-meets-academic work in service of the local church is something I’m deeply interested in. I’m an old contact btw of Andrew Young. He was a close friend of my late grandparents Hugh and Jenny Thompson, who were deeply involved with St Andrews Manurewa before and after it withdrew and helped start Grace TC and Grace PC churches. In any event, I’d love to hear about your work which sounds fascinating and important, and would love to hear your take on church in NZ as well as any possible specific needs or openings you may know about. You can reach me here or on email at Michael.g.thompson03@gmail.com
    I’m on academia.edu at

Or my wife Nikki Thompson is Facebook or blog at spilledmilkandsunsets.com

I hope this finds you well and look forward to meeting if and when you have the chance sometime.
    Best wishes
    Mike Thompson
