What I Read Online – 11/19/2013 (a.m.)

    • In this book, Currid addresses the current fascination with finding parallels between the Old Testament and the surrounding Ancient Near Eastern (ANE) cultures. With many scholars and pastors deploying such parallels to deny the inerrancy of God’s word, Currid’s rejoinder promised to be a useful counterbalance to such thinking.
    • The Meeting opened with the singing of “Jesus Shall Reign,” and an enterprising musician began to accompany on the saw.  To those unaccustomed with this mountain custom, the alien tones perhaps seemed less “sweet” than the words of the hymn required
    • We have also found that it can be useful to use life-changing moments/events that affect our teens to bring them back to the gospel. For example, the recent suicide of a very close friend of our teens was an opportunity for us to address the issue for their salvation.
